Blessing our new bus!
After a month-long fundraising campaign, Family Promise of Jacksonville finally has a new bus to replace our old, unreliable one.
On May 4, generous donors and church members marked the milestone with a “blessing of the bus” ceremony. The vehicle, a 15-seat Ford Transit van, will be an integral part of the Family Promise mission. Among its many uses:
- Taking families to the host church for a welcoming meal and shelter.
- Picking them up in the morning to return to our day center. Taking parents to work preparation classes or on job interviews.
- Heading off to the doctor’s office.
- Visiting apartments to find a new home for our families.
- And one of the most exciting days, being loaded with a family’s possessions on move in day!
